My Misery Is A Gift
Set of 6 greeting cards, 5″x7″, 2010. Edition of 9 in a clam shell presentation box, signed and numbered.
Six different digital photographs, each depicting a tearful portrait, printed on greeting cards. While Hallmark cards traditionally demonstrate commitment and sentimentality, this artwork seeks to communicate these themes through a depiction of pain and anguish. Drawing from the meaning and subtext imbued in the greeting card, this work creates a visual metaphor that meditates on the Martyr Complex.
